El Paso Opera and American Cancer Society are proud to announce they are co-presenting a special finale performance of “La Vie de la Bohème”, the exciting dinner theater show being presented by the opera starring opera professionals from around the country and UTEP Music Department students.
“La Vie de la Bohème” will conclude on at downtown’s Doubletree Hotel on Sunday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m. with a portion of proceeds from the evening’s ticket sales going to the El Paso branch of the American Cancer Society. In order to give more of the local community a chance to experience this innovative production before it ends, special pricing is being extended to UTEP faculty and staff ($55), UTEP students ($40), and military personnel ($55).
“This is the first time that ACS has worked with the El Paso Opera and we couldn’t be more excited,” says Christina Aragon, Community Manager of Development for the El Paso Office of the American Cancer Society. “We’re trying to do so many things within the community to let people know all that ACS can do for them and El Paso Opera is just one more of those things—putting music to a cure.”
"We see the opera as a connector for the arts and the non-profit sectors and this evening is a chance to show our support of both,” says David Grabarkewitz, artistic director for El Paso Opera. “And what better opportunity to fundraise than at the closing of our Bohème show at the top of the Doubletree."
Ticketholders for this special ACS fundraiser performance will enjoy a three-course dinner along with the show, which takes Puccini’s operatic classic off the stage and into an unforgettable, intimate setting melding elements from the original with more modern pop numbers depicting bohemian life in 19th century Paris. During dessert, cast members will offer up a variety of beloved opera pieces done up in cabaret style. Afterward, attendees can enjoy a party with the production’s cast and crew.
