About the event.
Opera, which has been around since the 16th century, is a uniquely breathtaking and historical experience. It is powerful and the most emotionally direct of all art forms. The combinations of narrative, stagecraft, music, and the human voice, make opera one of the most interesting art forms that still exist today.
El Paso Opera believes it is important to engage the youth in our community on the historical art of opera. To help in this initiative, we work with elementary, middle, and high schools across El Paso and the surrounding areas to educate our community’s youth about opera. Throughout the year, we provide informational presentations and short performances at schools in the community. Students are then invited to partake in Youth Night at the Opera where they will experience the final dress rehearsal before the big performance. We hope that these children will grow up with a good sense of the importance of the arts in our community. Our educational outreach program influences over 5,000 of our community’s elementary, middle, and high school students each year.
