Once again the El Paso Opera has surpassed itself with the production of Puccini's "Turandot".

An appreciative, sold-out house again on Saturday night was thrilled not only by the musicianship and talent of all the performers but was equally entranced by the sumptuous sets and opulent costumes.

I was accompanied by some skeptical aficionados from Dallas who had voiced reservations about the El Paso Opera producing anything near the quality of the Dallas Opera. By the time the final curtain had gone down their attitude had completely changed and pronounced the entire production equal to anything they had seen in Dallas! They made special comment about the abilities of our local singers, particularly Yvonne Marmolejo and Eric Weaver, and the great El Paso Opera Chorus.

Thanks again to the El Paso Opera for presenting a performance of the highest professional caliber.
