Valerian Ruminski is a graduate of SUNY-Buffalo and The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia PA. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in Carmen by Bizet in 2001. Mr. Ruminski has sung for many professional opera companies including Dallas Opera, NYC Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera de Montreal, Vancouver Opera, The Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Opera de Monte Carlo, Opera Ireland, Ottawa Lyric Opera, Portland Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre and Opera de Quebec as well as Santa Fe Opera and Chautauqua Opera.

Valerian is featured on the Deutsche Grammophone DVD release of ‘ I Puritani’ with Anna Netrebko from the Metropolitan Opera 2007 broadcast as well as Naxos Records CD release of ‘A Night at the Opera’ with Mariusz Kwecien and Matthew Polenzani. In 2012, he was featured in the New World Records CD release of ‘Victor Herbert Songs’. In 2009, Mr. Ruminski started Nickel City Opera, Buffalo NY’s first fully professional opera company since 1997. For 4 years Valerian has been the Artistic Director of NCO and produced, directed and sung in most of the 7 full productions the company has produced including Il Trovatore, Rigoletto, Il Tabarro, The Barber of Seville, La Bohème and Amahl and the Night Visitors. Upcoming for Mr. Ruminski is Don Pasquale in Don Pasquale for Nickel City Opera and Daland in The Flying Dutchman for Calgary Opera.
