El Paso Opera is a small nonprofit arts organization funded primarily through donations.
Many people wonder why we need donations when we sell tickets to our big shows. Opera is beautiful, but it is also expensive.
If we priced tickets high enough to cover the full cost of each production, tickets would be out of reach for many audience members.
We price tickets at levels our audience is comfortable with, but those prices cover less than 40% of the cost of our shows. We turn to donations from companies, foundations, and individuals to help cover the remaining costs.
